Can anyone recommend a casting rod to me for stripers. I will be casting lures instead of jigging or trolling and I would also like it to be as cheap as possible while still getting a good product.

i like to use a 7' MH rod, that way you can use it for catfishing, c-rig, trolling, and casting.

You can usually find an allstar or castaway on sale for
around $50. I like a 7 ft with a very fast tip.

i use an ugly stick lite inshore 7ft med or med heavy on all of my striper/hybrid rigs. they are strong and tough, handle braid well and you can use them for everything from live bait to trolling to casting topwaters. paired with a good clean garcia reel they will stand up to years of abuse.

it's the crapy days that make the good days that much better!!!

You're going to get alot of different opinions when it comes to equipment. So here's one more:

Almost every rod I got is the $30 Bass Pro, graphite rods they carry. Cheap, reliable and they can be return if needed. I don't need a $100 plus rod to tell me that I have a 5 - 10 lb fish on.

I think I might give them a try. I have been using Berkley Lightnin Rods with no complaints though.
