Get well soon Guy, as for the rest of you, take heed. I work on machines used to treat cancer patients. On average I see several people a week with Basil Cell carcinoma and the even worse, melanoma. I would love to lose my job if it meant finding a cure for cancer. Skin cancer is one of the most preventable cancers out there, all it takes is sunscreen.

Get well soon Guy. I would like to give some info. For those that hate to use the white greasey stuff that gets all over your hands everything I have found the solution. It's Hawaiian Tropic Ozone SPF50 it's oilfree and comes in a stick like deoderant comes in so you never have to get it on your hands. I also wear a wide brim hat and a long sleeve shirt. These things keep me from getting burned too bad. I hope this helps and again get well soon Guy.

Guy,

Hello from Peru....ready to be heading back this weekend definitely after spending the day at 14,000 plus feet. Even going out this morning to visit a Barrick gold mine for work at high altitude I put bullfrog on my face and exposed areas. It was cold but they still recommended sunscreen....and it was wise.

Your experience has made me think twice about making sure I'm protected. May even get a larger hat for extra protection.

Thanks for sharing many of your experiences to help others. You have certainly done a huge amount of that way beyond your skin cancer experience.

Thank you Guy for sharing your story in doing so I think you have influenced many people into using sunscreen.

I am one that puts my sunscreen on before my fishing clothes and reapply later on. Though I use a high # sunblock I have not used the one you recommend, going to put that on my shopping list.

You have heard it many times before my post and I too wish you a speedy recovery. thumb

Guy,

Really sorry to see this happening to you. Can't even begin to tell you how you story is effecting me. I am one of those idiots, that thinks he's bulletproof. And there is nobody whiter than me. My wife is always telling me to put it on and I almost never do. My nose gets blistered, and looks real bad for a few days and she says she dreams of it falling off.

Today, I will go out and get some Bullfrog.

Guy, thanks for sharing this experience with us that need to know about this practice that we all need to heed. I wear the big brim ugly hat as my picture in Ernest's web site shows, but not enough sun block. I will now, I promise.
Prayers are with you on your recovery.
You will have to come down and hide in the woods and deer hunt with me.

Guy, my prayers are with you as well for a quick recovery. Thanks also for reminding me that I should take the time for sunscreen for myself...I always insist that my kids wear it at all times but don't always practice what I preach. Hope that all goes well.God Bless...

When I am on the water you don't see much of me, am covered up like someone in the desert. The only thing exposed is my hands and have lotion on them. I am very cautious, more from losing both of my parent's to different forms of cancer, neither of which was skin cancer.
Recently my mother in law beat skin cancer and I don't plan on giving it any chance to grow on me.

Guy, best wishes for a speedy and permanent recovery. I'd like to echo your comments about protection from the sun. I, too, was bulletproof, but at age 59, I've been through basal cell removal 5 times in the last 8 years. It ain't a lot of fun. Protect yourselves, guys.

Glad you are able to recover from that Guy, I know I should be wearing sunscreen, as you can see from the color of my skin though I don't, think I will have to do better.

Guy,

I hope all goes well with your recovery. I had skin cancer spots removed when I was in my early 20s in 1987. Thank god my mother spotted them on my shoulders, as she had just read an article on melanoma. I had a spot removed from my left arm as well back then. I, and my wife/kids, NEVER go out without at least PF 30 (with PF 50 on our white feet and face), as we're all fair-skinned.
When around water ESPECIALLY, you need to put some sunblock on, as the water is a super refractor of sunlight and UVR.

I also found out I have degenerative disk disease in my lower back, but it's the tissue between the disks, not the disks themselves, so i'm lucky there. It just have to build it back up and it can tighten up like dog sometimes.

Our prayers are with you and God bless.
