I have been shopping for a new bait caster in the $100-150 range and everyone always says Shimano Citica or Abu G Revo.
Why does no one back the Daiwa?
I went to BPS and looked at a daiwa they had for 120 and it was nice.
Thanks for the input. I have not had a lot of experience with high end reels.

I have 10 of these (my son and I combined) and love them, Daiwa Advantage Super-Tuned HSTA.

Daiwa makes very good reels. One of the problems that I have had with them is that they don't have the customer service, mainly parts availability, that Abu and Shimano provide. Besides that they have good reliable designs.

That is news to me. I have had quite a few hours of Daiwa producs training and have even taught store employees the same. I have never heard of Daiwa not supporting a product even the older stuff. If it is discontinued they normally just give you the most comparable current reel or even an upgrade. Their customer service is very good.

If anyome encounters an issue with Daiwa's service please let me know and I will try to help any way I can.

Have you ever ordered parts from them? It's not that they don't support their parts it's that they take their time shipping them out. I'm talking weeks in some cases. My perspective is from a repair standpoint and from my experience Shimano and Abu Garcia parts are more plentiful, more accessible, and ship the same day. Daiwa just seems to take their sweet time. But I do like their reels cool

Most of my reels are Daiwa. From the old TD2HI to the Alphas, they are suited to me.

I don't check out most reels, its just the Daiwa's have what I need. We have place in Dallas that has always had any parts I needed. Southwestern Parts.

Ask Shane the next time you're in there to compare Shimano and Daiwa's parts availability. He will probably same thing, he's one of my suppliers.

I'm not talking bad about Daiwa by any means. I like their reels and they have less problems than most other reels on the market. I compare reel manufactures by their products and their service and Daiwa lacks a little in the parts department. All the manufactures have little problems and it varies from company to company. If you only want to hear the good things just let me know.
