i dont know the hole story. however, do you think that if she had been released back into the lake after all the hoopla, she would have gained world record weight? what if they had tagged her? if she had an electronic tag, would you consider it a record if she had been located by some type of radar device? it just leaves one to ponder if she might have lived a little while longer and put on some more weight in her home waters. personally i believe she lived her remaining life "high on the hog" and she probably would not have lived AS long back in the lake. but, it makes you think. you never know. whats YOUR thought?...

I kind of like the idea that she swan in that big old tank and gave thousands of little, and big, kids a chance to see her up close and personal so they could dream of catching such a fish. When you see a fish like that up close it really is unbelievable to think about catching a fish like that. It was great publicity for a lot of years for Fork an bass fishing in general.

She reached over 20# I believe before she died. We actually saw here when we were up there in about '89.

yep and she was tagged but not with a tracking device. it's called a PIT tag that tpwd can scan like a upc code they put in the SAL's to identify.

I remember seeing her when I was a kid, and couldn't get over how big she was. I remember them saying there were 1-2 lb Crappy that were missing, she was eating them. I don't know if she would have ever gotten any bigger back in the lake or not, but she did have it very well in that big tank they had her in.
