Hey incomin,

Sounds like good times ahead of ya'll. I'm excited for both of you. Your scenario is just like mine and my wife. I love to fish while she loves to sun bathe. Most definitely keep us posted on your fishing and all the bliss of things there. Won't be much longer till we come there too. Cant wait to hear your report. Tight lines to ya!!! fish

OK sorry im late posting an update,We did get out there on monday morning.Just a few folks fishing ,we caught 3 reds one was well over 30in and over 20 pounds.I just gave a rough guess he did put up a pretty good scrap thats for sure.I didnt have camera tape or a means to weight him. the other 2 we small ones.Bait was not as plentiful as last week but we had plenty to fish the day with. The tide was weird it went out and came in like 2 times while we was there.when it came in it clouded up the water I caught the big red before 9am.Now I was asked about Motels I saw 2 on the way one about 5 minutes from crystal beach both looked to nice and are open,Both are on the right side so you cant miss them. Also right at the pass on the bay side we saw a few travel trailers parked there im assuming those are where you can put your travel trailer as it seemd they was there for a while. Also we saw a couple of tents folks was campimg over night aswell. We had a wonderful time never the less
TX if you will let us know when your going to be there we can take a trip and meet you and say hello and fish with you.
If there is anything I can do to help you plan for your trip just let me know as we will be going back in a few days..............Tide

Incoming Tide, are there lights at RollOver Pass now? Are there alot of people fishing over night? Is Gulf Coast market re-opened? Sorry havent been there to fish since the hurricane and am planning a trip and wondering what to expect. Since there are no open stores around at night, I was worried about safety of being there overnight in a tent! Thanx in advance!

I went to Roll Over yesterday and I caught one keeper Speck and a bunch of rat reds and the usuall hardheads. I saw a few trout caught on finger mullet and a few keeper reds. I used fresh dead didnt want to do live shrimp because it was to windy. I left at dark but people who had lights started to catch some trout. Plenty of bait. Next time I will bring my cast net and catch some finger mullet.

Hey Kris,

The folks that were doing the night fishing, what were they using for bait? Were they using plastics or live shrimp under the popping cork. Man I miss that, but we will be there soon. Thanks ahead for the info. Tight lines !!!

Those asking about motels near rollover.... We always stay in Winnie at Comfort inn or Studio 6 because they are much cleaner and all. Stayed at Joy Sands once and never again. I can't believe it made it thru IKE!! Saw a mouse run from a hole in the wall, across the room, to another hole in the wall! The other motel was about the same. I slept and showered with my shoes on. Just my 2cents.

The motel in High Island is open and it's ok. No phones in rooms like most small places. They have also opened the attached restaurant for breakfast and lunch. It's a lot closer to the gulf and rollover than Winnie. I never worry about crime in High Island because there isn't anything there worth stealing. LOL

Gulfview Motel
1365 Highway 124 Hg
High Island, TX 77623
409-286-5217

The bait shop in High Island is open it's called Ben's Trading Post. 409-286-2231.

The blue water baitcamp is also open. It's behind where sharkeys used to be. There number is 409-684-bait. You can call and check in advance for availability.

Take I10 east to Winnie. Then 124 south through High Island shortly after that you will turn right on 87. Stay on 87 until you get to Roll Over Pass. It is the only bridge on 87. You can see the Gulf and the bay. Good luck.

Ben's trading post is in Winnie. It is one of the last businesses on the right, heading out of town towards High Island.
I bought some bait there about a month ago, and I really liked his store.
