"Movin' on up..." Isn't that the title song to the Jefferson's? Wonder which brush pile Ernest's condo moved those fish out of?

BILLY!!! 4:40 AM? WE PUT THE CONDO ON AN AREA THAT HAS PRODUCED FOR US IN THE PAST WITH SCATTERED FISH. MAYBE THE SOUND OF THOSE BLOCKS THUMPING THE BOTTOM BROUGHT THEM OVER TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON AND THEY STAYED. ALL I KNOW FOR SURE IS "IT WAS FUN".THE TREES WERE MADE BY CUTTING 5 GALLON PAINT BUCKETS INTO QUARTERS AND SCREWING THE SECTIONS TO A 2X2. ATTACH A WIRE TO ONE END AND TIE TO A BLOCK. THE WOOD MAKES THEM FLOAT UPRIGHT. WE PUT 8 IN ONE SPOT. ------------------ GOOD FISHING. ERNEST 972-245-9311 "I LIVE FOR THE THUMP"

Earnest you are always reinventing the wheel. Looks like that will work out for you sooner than later. I never thought of doing it like that but what a great idea. ------------------

The picture of the "trees" in my boat doesn't do the whole thing justice. I wish you could have seen the huge cement blocks that Ernest put in the back. It took two men and a boy just to get the boat up on plane. Our new theme song now is the theme from the "Beverly Hillbillies". I wish you guys could have seen the looks on the faces of the people on the ramp when we launched. It was a mix between amusement and total confusion. But boy oh boy, do those crappie like those "high rise condos". Seemed like they were fighting over who got the better view.......of the jigs ------------------ Good fishin', Guy Skinner

Ernest, WillieFindum here. That really sounds like an inexpensive condo, easly to tranport and assemble. Now the Q's. How tall did you make them, spacing and number of can quarters per pole, etc.....? Details, details, give me details.

------------------ GOOD FISHING. these were 4' tall. The other 4 were 30" tall. you can adjust the height with the wire length. ERNEST 972-245-9311 "I LIVE FOR THE THUMP" [This message has been edited by ERNEST PATY (edited 10-24-2003).]

Those are some FINE looking fish attractors!!! How long do you think they will last being made with the 2x2 before they rot? I can get a bunch of buckets like that at work, so I know I will be making some. Thanks Ernest!!

HOW DO YOU ATTACH THEM TO THE CEMENT BLOCKS??? DO THEY STAND UPRIGHT WHEN IN THE WATER OR DO THEY SUSPEND SIDEWAYS?? GUESS I'M GOING TO HAVE TO MAKE SOMETHING LIKE THEM AS WELL.
OOPS - DIDN'T READ ABOVE POST THOROUGHLY ENOUGH - DIDN'T THINK BY LOOKING AT THEM THAT THE WOOD WOULD MAKE THEM FLOAT UPRIGHT. NOW I HAVE A PROJECT WITH THIS FRONT MOVING IN AND THE WIND WHIPPING UP.

We figure that the wood will last a few years, and that's long enough to catch a bunch of crappie. And yes, they float upright, cause there's a hole in one end of the wood with wire attached. That wire (about two foot) goes to a cement block to anchor them, therfore they will float vertically. We've got another condo design that we're gonna try soon on Grapevine. Will let all of you know how it works.

How long does it take for raw wood to become waterlogged?
