I normaly get them in the late winter and spring. I couldnt garauntee one but you would have a good chance when the time is right. We catch a lot of 1.5 pounders with the accasional 2 pounder. The reason I suggest this time is because the fish are at there heaviest at this time. A crappie that might be under 2 pounds has the best chance of pushing over 2 pounds when it is full of eggs. We usually catch some hogs during the spawn. Just ask any professional bass fisherman when the best chances to catch a huge bass and he will say late winter early spring. The record books back this up also, just atke a look. Most record fish are caught during this time. Mainly bacause of the extra weight the females put on during this time of year.

here is one that is over 3 pounds and broke the lake record.
here is the proof

Fall produces some of the biggest fish of the year. I dont think you could go wrong with any of the guides on this forum. All have a very good reputation for putting their clients on fish consistantly. Duck_Jerky/Jerry Hancock/Ernest Paty (think he is retired but will go fishing with you cause he still loves it)Guy Skinner (think he is recovering from knose cancer still)/CHBass Ray Roberts/ Chuck Rollins Cedar Creek.

I suggest taking a guide out on a lake you frequent or want to learn. You get the most out of your trip when doing this. You learn the lake first hand from someone who fishes it almost daily. Like I said I dont think you could go wrong with any of the guides on this forum. Its mainly up to you on what lake you want to go too.

Personally, I like the fall of the year for big fish. The crappie go on a feeding spree this time of year, and really pack the weight on. And there are big crappie in all our lakes if you know where to look for them.

Short answer....now thru the middle of December.

Ditto. And I would get on Cedar Creek to improve my chances.
