Just got back saturday evening. The weather was pretty good as it rained lightly almost everyday triggering some good hatches. All fish were caught and released happily on either royal wulffs, green copper johns, or hoppers. We caught more fish than I have pictures of, we just didnt want to take pictures of every single fish. To get into the good fish you had to get away from the road a good ways. I wish I was still there. At one point I was hinting at a job at the Fox Creek Store. Which by the way has new owners who are exceptionally nice and informative (and from Amarillo, Texas by the way ). The fishing selection in the store has even grown since they've taken over. http://s89.photobucket.com/albums/k218/RandallW20/Platoro%202009/?albumview=grid
Happy Fishing To All And To All A Good Night!!

nice bunch of photos randall- looks like you were in the pinnacles from some of the photos
they did not want the hoppers in the rio do los pinos but the trout were very willing at elk and grouse creeks
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Awesome, AWESOME photos! As many times as I have been to Southern Colorado, I have not fished the Conejos. Beautiful, breathtaking views in your photos. As it is always said, I'm sure the photos do not do it justice...
I'm planning a trip to Colorado when I get back from Iraq, whether it be next week or October - we're waiting on word from the military. I may just have to drop in on the Conejos while I'm there!

Randall, Thanks for the report. awesome photos. I'll be sure to post ours when we get back.
How were the water temps? We are going up next week and are planning on wet wading? Good idea or are waders still needed?
Thanks

You should be able to wet wade. It may be a bit cold, but just get your feet wet and cold and you wont even be able to feel it. That's what I do. Oh and try to not go past that certain area.

Thanks for the re-assurance. We are trying to keep it light. Gonna be mixing in some hikes to the high lakes.
You ever hike Elk Creek to the 2nd or 3rd meadows? I'm thinking/hoping it should be quiet up there.
