Yes, we caught some keepers around the tree stumps. We where using the live bait, not to good at using jigs yet.

so the crappie are up in the tree stumps? that's good news, gotta get down there soon! Is there enough water in the creek heading towards 35 for any of them to move up there?
Maybe this rain will trigger a move!
Rudy
Keep us posted, I love fishing down there!

Lasttime i tried to get up the creek it was 1ft to 2ft deep. If you go to the lake the center launch is the place to leave from. Im going to go back to lake thursday.

Can you get to them from the bank, or do you need a boat?

Since I have a boat that all I have been doing. I do know if you go out on I35 just south of Waxahachie. You can fish around that bridge and walkup and down the banks and get crappie. I have not tried that this year since I got the boat.

i grew up on waxahachie lake and know the aerator very well. i have caught the most sand bass in one trip in my life there. i snuck over to it many times, but BEWARE,BEWARE,BEWARE, the game warden will issue you a ticket for fishing in a restricted area if he catches you there. during the summer you can catch a nice sand bass there every cast, but not worth the risk. i got ticket there last summer. $175.00 for that one little incident.i did drive by the lake the other day and looks like it came up alot in last week.

Spyguy, there's a bridge? Not too familiar with the area. Been going up there once a month for a couple years, and did'nt even know there was a lake. LOL
Just don't feel like hauling my boat up there on the off chance I might get to fish. I guess I'll have to check it out on foot, I never know if I will have any free time over the weekend.
Oh, that ticket had to hurt.....Thats expensive fish you did'nt get to keep
Thanks for the info

The bridge is over I35 and its the creek that goes to Waxahachie Lake. I have caught many of fish in the creek and yes I have been up in a boat before. The weekends you usally see alot of people parked around the bridge and fishing under it or next to it.

I wonder how close these guys would get to the spillway before they realized they were in trouble. I was looking at the post above and didn't realize there were even Sandies in that lake. Last year my son and I were going there quite often because they don't have any lake records on some of the fish species and he wanted to get in the record book (even for a minute).
