I was wondering about turtles, snakes, and fish. Do fish get out of the area if there are turtles and snakes around?

Been my observations that it doesn't disrupt anything too much. Ive caught baskets of fish with turtles playing submarine and snakes wiggling by several times on multiple trips. In fact there is a reason they are all in the area and it aint to pick up pizzas! More likely because they feed on some of the same cycle/chain of life products known to their waters/environment.

The only thing I've ever noticed is if a gar moves in, then the bite slows a little. Most likely because the bait fish start to hide. Turtles and snakes don't seem to bother the fish, but those snakes, they bother me!

I'd imagine that a large concentration of small snakes (and maybe turtles) in an area would indicate that there aren't any large (fish) predators around.

Usually when you got alot of snakes around, you don't have many people there also.

Snakes really dont bother me , there pretty much every where you fish. I guess it does not make to much deference. I caught the nice eaters 2-3 lbs in the same place a week earlier. This time same turtles and caught the same amount of fish (7) but they All were smaller biggest about 12".

great fishing around them, but don't put jugs or trots too close or that may be all you catch

I was fishing some creek spots last week and didn't catch any fish -- but the creek was FULL of turtles, and I caught a huge softshell. (What a disappointment that it wasn't the 10 lb'er I thought it must be on the end of that line...) So I was wondering the same thing. Everything that's been said makes sense to me...

I'm not a biologist but I'd think that small turtles and snakes would harvest the area of fry / younger fish so you'd have less forage for the bigguns.
I don't see a foot-long water moccasin scaring a 10 pound bass away.

A 10lb bass would likely swallow inn whole a foot long water moccasin.

If there are turtles then there are fish of some sort in the area. I fish on Eagle Mountain a lot at night, especially this time of year, when the turtles get thick enough for me to start losing bait or hooking turtles I either thin them out or move. I hate turtles.
