Toledo is also my home lake and during the summer I see people fishing and pulling tubes in the boat lanes every day in the Lanana area. Some people just do not think about others safety including the ones they are towing. I have the boat lanes chip and there are many times when the chip does not match the bouys because the bouys are out of place. In that event I slow down. The poor folks on the tube will not have that option and stumps are everywhere in that lake even in the boat lanes when it gets low enough.

Since I have been on the lake I see a lot of people dragging empty tubes in the boat lane. So when I see a tube tied 6ft behind the boat I figure they are just draggin it home due to no room in the boat. Most actual tubing or skiing I see is down by the damn or in the coves on the LA side. Plenty of times I idled by 4 or 5 boats with people in the water headed back to the launch. The only place I have seen tubers not by the damn is down by the Texas islands

draggin kids in a wooded boat lane, marked or unmarked is not smart, even by aggie standards... hook em horns

Probably Aggies in the boat in front of you pulling the tube. Probably Baby Aggies in the tube. They're everywhere these days.

Never seen someone pulling an empty tube. So are you saying the kids were in the tube 6ft behind the boat? Reguardless of right or wrong, these things happen. People fish in boat lanes, I do. People will pull tubes in boat lanes. Like it or not it goes on. NEVER PASS A BOAT THAT IS PULLING SOMEONE, NEVER FLY BY SOMEONE FISHING IN THE BOAT LANES. If people would use common sense the sport would be better off, and this thread would not have been started.

so they were stupid for towing the kids....
or you were stupid for following that close behind a boat towing a float....
or you were stupid for posting about how stupid you were to follow behind them Really , its seems like you were contributing to a accident...

If people used common sense they wouldn't be pulling a tuber in a boat lane. If everyone used common sense we wouldn't have anything to post about????? What will we do, post about fishing??? Its just a matter of time on Palestine. They pull them tubers through old stump fields. I will still ilde through those areas. Oh well, if you don't hit one, they ain't there.

The main north south boat lane is a Major highway on that lake. You don,t pull kids on a sled down I35 and you don't expect traffic to stop and idle by because you want to stop and look at the bluebonnets. So why would you expect a boat to slow down that might be making a 20-30 mile run, just because you chose to drift in the boat lane? I fish some structuer on the boat lane and I know I am on the highway and sure don't expect others to slow down because I am there. I want them to go by on full pad displacing as little water as possible. I get told everyyear that I am # from someone that is fishing the point at slaughter. You have to know that if you chose to fish there you are only 50yds from the main north south and you will get waked. Just accept that fact and then make the decision of wheather you want to fish there or not. The same goes for the folks that decide it is a good idea to drift around the boat lanes in a 14ft johnboat, They are taking a big risk. Now I personally think that anyone who gets out on the main lake in a johnboat is an idiot, But that is there decision. Just because they made an idiotic choice should not mean that everyone else on the lake should cater to their stupidity.

Back in the day when we had a camp on Toledo Bend. People were more responsible for their actions. But, now days every body and their uncle has a boat or PWC! And most of them have no clue what they are doing??
I say run the lanes in a RESPONSIBLE WAY and don't worry about it. If your doing the right thing and someone is doing something stupid run em' over! I support the idea of "survival of the fittest" and these people are not fit. So, get rid of the stupid people.
Stupid people should not breed!
I don't care if you don't agree with me. Just don't be stupid and you will survive!!
Land was created to provide a place for boats to visit!! It is when pirates count their booty that they become mere thieves. ARRRRRR....

Tubing in a boat lane is inconsiderate and not smart. It's very dangerous and should be prohibited by law. Some guy on tis site has a tagline that puts it in a nutshell. "Life is tough. It's tougher if you're stupid." John Wayne.
"Faith requires one to elevate the practice of not thinking to a virtue," Mark Twain
