koi are very expensive fish. I've seen some cost over $1000.00 a piece.

Koi are used to being fished for. They stand out so they have prolly seen more lures and baits thrown at them any other fish as well as birds looking for an easy snack. You fish them the same way you would a carp or buffalo using a small #6 (not 6/0) circle hook, carolina rigged with sweet corn.

Must be in the carp family? Yup, as a matter of fact, they are the exact same species as the common carp (Cyprinus carpio). They have been bred for a long time to create the unique colors This is the exact same way the the wolf (Canis lupus) can look so different with breeding (think about a greyhound and a chihuahua being the same species). Wait, am I rambling?
