Do any of you guys know of any places around the Lewisville area that does boat carpeting?
Any ideas what that cost...ballpark figure?
Also how does that compare to the spray on bedliner that I have seen people having done lately?

Thansk for any input.

Casey,

You might want to consider doing it yourself. I just got done redoing my 18ft. Stratos. About $150 after all said and done.

My estimates were between $700 and $900 for my boat.

I would consider doing it myself, but I have no idea how and am not too confident in my carpentry abilities.

How hard was it to do and how long did it take you?

Casey,If you can pull your carpet out in one piece, just trace it out on your new carpet with a marker. If you cant get the old carpet out in one piece take some card board (in big sheets)and lay the pieces in the boat and cut to fit. With all the pieces in place tape them together with duct tape and you will have a pattern to go by.It may take a little longer this way but this is the way I did it because Im not good at laying carpet either.I bought my charcoal colored gray marine carpet at Home Depot and the carpet glue also.Believe me it will save $$$.Home Depot doesnt have that big of a color selection so if you cant find a good match you may have to get your carpet eleswhere.

Hey Casey, follow the above advice, I done mine over the winter to have plenty of time.
I added on to my deck and brought it all the way back, boat is all deck cept the part where you sit. Made the ole skeeter like new. If you can get the old out in one peice, trace it but make it a little large, glue the deck in the boat, don't glue the carpet, lay the carpet on the glue and trim to fit with a utility knife. If the old comes out in peices use the cardboard trick posted above and cut your carpet a little large. It may take a little time but you can save some big bucks!!

I`ve been an installer for many years and done quite a few boats. You can do it very well yourself.Get a pail of indoor/outdoor carpet adhesive at home depot and KEEP YOUR TOOLS CLEAN. Also get one of the double edged carpet knives that take the Personna inserts.Keep the blade sharp as it will cut down on frayed edges. A novice cannot sharpen a dull blade enough so just change blades when needed. I live in L/ville and if you want to bring the boat by I will show you exactly how to do it. You will find that if you use adhesive on the flat areas and contact for around the wrap areas it works much better.
The reason that we charge so much is that it is labor intensive in length of time involved and it adds up to a big fee for something that you can do yourself. De-natured paint thinner will clean your spots but do not apply too much.
Drop me an e-mail if I can help you out.

Thanks to all for the good advice.

Bluedog, I might take you up on that offer. What is your email address?

Thanks again!
