I've always heard that the fishing is good on a full moon until the other day one of the guys that has given me alot of good advice told me the opposite. He says he never fishes during a full moon and for me not to waste my time. just curious what everyone thinks about this

Great if you're fishing at night. In my experience, the daytime bite around the full moon is off, except for midday, seem to get a little flurry of activity for about an hour.

Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

My family swears by the lunar calendar. They all agree that when there is a full moon, the fish feed all night b/c they can see all night. Then during the day, they don't feed as much b/c they have fed all night. During the new moon, or no moon, they cannot see to feed at night and they bite better during the day. Truth, who freakin knows. Fish every chance you get. Keep a log and make the decision for yourself.

That is probably the best advice, I fish as much as my wife will let me, I have had good nights fishing on all different phases of the moon. but keeping a log is a good idea

Agreed. Fish as much as you can full moon or not.

my best all time DAYS have been during the full moon period. It seems to be a mid thing, as stated earlier. This from 10 years of notes where the moon phase was noted and also my opinion only.

I have always heard that night fishing with lights is worst during a full moon because the fish are more spread out because of the moon on the water.

The few days before the day of the full moon seem to be better for me than the day of the full moon.

hate it

Unless you are wearing a grass skirt and sleeping in a ditch and eating only road kill, you too are part of 'the problem'.

Some of the best fishing for me is on a full moon.

i fish whenever & wherever i can. sometimes it tuff but i just keep movin if they dont bite within 10-15 min. moving consistantly pays off for me & seems to work better than just fallowing the lunar calendar. i will say that i have had some good luck during the begining of a full moon.

In the heat of the summer it can play that way. As to be not as good. Fish that feed at night can feed a little easier under a full moon at night. I believe this affects them more than anything. Being able to silhouette food easier under the full moon phase at night.

I agree with this with an exception. If it is cloudy and the moon isn't visible fishing under lights can be great. Only time I caught a limit of crappie was on a cloudy full moon night.
