Land Pirate and Green Water gave me an idea for a thread here. When surf fishing or wading what is the weirdest/ coolest or scariest thing youve encountered while fishing Gulf Coastal waters.
Ive had something big chasing mullet slam against me while surf fishing before, dont know what it was but scared the sh** out of me..

I was standing on the 2nd sandbar fishing the gut, and saw a five foot shark hall [censored] about three feet in front of me in the gut, so fast it was hard to get startled, until about two seconds later when a dolphin swam right by chasing the shark (i think). I got to shore so fast I don't think my feet hit the bottom of the first gut!

I dont think that shark wanted to eat you but the dolphin may have been trying to protect you anyway. Ive heard they do that sometimes and they can beat the hell out of a shark.

i was fishing down is Sargent in the cut, standing in about 3 1/2 foot of water been catching a tone of trout and the tide was picking up about that time i seen a 5 foot shark around out of now were he jumped on my stringer taking all of my fish off the line causing me to fall over into the tide when i went down the tide took me out luckily as i went out passed the last guy he just reached out and got me. after that i have a jacket on all the time

I've seen lots of turtles come up close. Had dolphins blast by me chasing mullet. A bunch of baby manta rays swimming around me. Once, I lifted a clump of sargasso weed out of the water to toss it aside. When I did a little fish that was camo'd to look like the sea weed fell out and then made a bee-line straight for my belly button. He was no bigger than a quarter but I didn't want him in my belly button. Soon as I set the sea weed back in the water he swam from my belly button back to his happy home. That was weird.

Back when we were younger , 4 of us were surf fishing at night . We were almost chest deep when the shortest guy got hit underwater by something so hard it pulled him under . He poped back up and made a jet for the beach . When he checked him out it looked like he had shark skin scrapes on one leg . He would not go back in that night , the rest of us did , but not as deep .

Last time I was at Port A about a 3 inch sea slug swam by me in the water. At least I think it was a slug. Ipicked it up and it looked just like a slug except it had flaps for swimming along its side.

whoa if that's what I'm thinking of ( don't remember the name tho) someone else posted about it awhile back, think they said they can cause nerve damage from a toxin they secrete

dang that is nuts. I am gonna look it up real quick.

I was once (true story) slapped in the face by a mullet while wading! it just got exited i guess.....
