i am going to east matty saturday and have not been doing well with lures and was going to try live croaker. how would i fish with them? cork or bottom??


i love to fish but catching is soooo much better!!

Free line them...no weight. Shallow early and deeper through midday (roughly 6 feet) along shorelines.

IMO piggy's work just as good and are a lot cheaper and when i get to the deeper water?(8-more) i like to Carolina rig them with a fluorocarbon leader.

Being from Sweeny, I'm sure you know you have to get permission from Billy P. to fish those croaks in East Bay. LOL I don't use any weight, just a 4/0 croaker hook on a 16" floro leader. Leave a few for seed!

I have had times when the redfish would only bite on fresh cut croaker , nothing else . They are easy to catch on a little rod with shrimp to keep a stock . So you may what to try that if it is slow .
