I can't seem to notice any difference with the nibbles...I suppose they might encourage a crappie to hold on to the jig a bit better on a shy bite and increase the chance on a hook set...on the down side if the small ones are aiming at the nibble instead of the body of the jig you might miss some that way too.
Have you any fishes? Cast your nets to the other side.

The fishing is hot on Lavon right now. In 2 trips Sunday we had 64 keepers and 1 in 5-7 fish were keepers. We caught some fish in 7' water but the best were in 12-14' water. I fished from East fork to north of Tickey around near to Collin and caught numbers of fish in every place we fished. I very seldom fish any structure you can see. I let everyone else have that unless I am the first one to fish it that day. Ernest, you kidding right? Nibbles do help at times just like minnows. I don't use them alot, but they have saved me more than once. Jerry www.NorthTexasGuideService.com

Well, I must say that I like using the nibblets! I think they work esspically good on days when they aren't very aggressive, it does help them hold on better. Yes, you may catch some small ones, but plenty of nice ones too. A crappie is a crappie, they are all fun to catch to me! So I suppose technically a REAL fisherman wouldn't have to make and sink condos/brushpiles, right? They would just hunt for them! Good Luck and Good Fishin to all!!

I agree with CrappieKing83! REAL fisherman are folks who love to fish, obey the rules and respect his/her fellow fisherman! Having a real job limits my time on the lake, so when I do fish, I want to catch as many as possible. I am more than glad to catch and release a ton of 9-10 inch fish to get to the nice ones. Not bragging, but like most of you, my freezer is full and most of them have been caught with a little "candy" on the jig. Plus, they make good snacks when I run out of Vienna sausage - ha!

CONFIDENCE IS KEY!!! So whatever gives you that is the way to go. Remember the following rules and good luck out there:
1st - location (depth/structure) 2nd - presentation (also includes boat position) 3rd - color - if they can't see it they can't hit it! 4th - get 'em in the boat and determine a pattern
I told my boss I wouldn't be in today, I got my arm in a cast!!! ========================================================= I have spent most of my life fishing. . . the rest I've just wasted.

I use the nibbles when a boat with husband and wife move in on top of me while fishing a 'hole.' I just put one under a nostril, make a sneezing sound so they can hear. Display my nibble bugger...the wife invariably pokes the husband (or vise versa) they move on and leave me SO alone.

A buddy and I fished Monday from 11:30 to 7:30 (he showed up about 2), and we had probably 30 with 12 keepers. 7 of our 1st 8 were keepers. The keepers were in the 6-7 foot range. We caught a bunch of 8-9" fish in 14' water. All in all it was a good day. It was his 1st time to jig and he is now converted.

I definatly did not mean to start a battle about nibbles when I ask if anyone had been catching any crappie on lavon. So please don't bicker, we are all here to help each other out and make some new fishing buddies!!!!
Happy Fishing, Michelle

Not trying to bicker, just an additional, and hopefully humorous, use for nibbles. I DO use them to tip a jig sometimes. No insult or even sugestion on anyone elses fishing preferences from this end. Have fun

Hey Txduckster -- I think you got CrappieKing mixed up with someone else. If you look back at your first post and his post, you will see he was agreeing with you about nibbles. I do fish with him by the way, and he can teach all of us a few things about catching crappie -- but, you sounded a little insecure in your response and knowing him, know you were off target on this one. Keep it cool dude.

Jigginfool, I was talking about Ernest when I said Crappieking. I didn't look a the post names so I had no idea that someone had responded with that handle! OOPs.
Ernest, if you were just joking you may want to not use all CAPS and maybe put a smiley face or something. I also may have been a little on edge since that was my first post on this forum. I have been on hunting forums since they started about 10 years ago but just found this one so I am not sure who is who here. Know what I mean...
Go catch somthing!
