I just got home from a very tiring evening at work a small while ago and went to check the oil in my wifes car as she asked me to in a phone call earlier. She was just over a quart low and I never remembered buying transmission fluid for her car and mistakenly put it in instead, I only realized it after I was about to put the container in the trash can.
Will it harm the car to drive with that in it until I can do a complete oil change on the weekend or do I need to drain it out right away ???

its ok- drive it a couple times, then change the oil. ATF is a detergent and will actually help clean the oil passages and such. When I would flush my old truck- i would put 3 quarts trans fluid, and 1 quart of oil and run it for a couple hours- then drain and put new oil and filter on.

I occasionally add half a quart to my fuel when i fill up, cleans everything up real nice...friend of mine who adds a quart to his powerstroke every 4 or 5 fill ups taught me the trick.

dont get caught if u drive a diesel, DOT will think its farm diesel.

What the Hell will DOT be looking at the motor oil for??????????
