I'm repeating a question I posted on the Sunfish/Bluegill Forum. For those of you that fish regularly, how is the record-breaking temperature affecting your fishing for sunfish/bluegills? Will be interesting to hear from around the state.

I went to a couple of community ponds yesterday and saw several 'gills or bream on their beds in less than a foot of water.

still catching fish fairly consistent, although they are closer to thick cover for shade and most are out deeper

catching mostly green sunfish and bluegills, not so many redbreasted anymore. Also seem to be running a bit smaller. Little bass are still very active though.

I find it better when this hot to fish deeper(4'-10') and close to shade for the bigger sunfish family members. If you are out at first light or 30 min. after the sun is off the water then go with a popper.

I caught a few nice ones early in the morn in lakeway near the shores by structure like boatdocks sunday.
It's more than the catfish would do.

The bluegill was biting very good the last time I went fishing, that was Saturday. That was the only type of sunfish that I caught though. I fished for 2.5 hours. I think they get in deeper water when possible, and shade during the heat of the day. I know in the creeks they still bite around here, there is some shade, and deeper pockets...they go there, but they are not sluggish feeders at all.
