 question on which sonar to use

Im going to upgrading my electronics soon and want to use SI level equipment.
Would I be better off using the Si unit on the boat and a standard gps/color on the console? Or the other way around?
I am already having a hard time justifying spending over a grand for sonars so I dont see myself being able to spend enough to have SI units on the console and the bow...
also how is the hummingbird Si working for everyone? Not seeing alot of options and dont know if I should us the hummingbird or just go with a Lowrance standard graph?

research a little more. Lowrance is on the horizon. There will be some good prices on HB SI real soon.

well the research ive done still says lawrance doesnt even have a date set yet....and Ive seen lots of problems with the 5's.......Its just hard to read all of it because alot of people just dont know how to use them and others have legitimate problems...so its tough to discern

ive had ongoing issues with my lowrance units and so have a few others id probably go hb

where are you finding a price at? I just see its coming soon and I think it does look alot better than the humminbird...just wonder if they will fix all the other glitches you read about with them.....Im just leary buying something that complicated if the customer service is lacking as everyone has reported.....that is a trick little set up though
