Does anyone have any experience with these Saltwater Series Baitcasters? How good (in your opinion) is the quality (compared to what? Any input is appreciated.

no experience with the saltwater, but have 3 of the non-saltwater versions.

A little heavy by today's standards, but a very robust reel. Everything on the reel is metal: frame, sideplates, front cover, all clutch elements, handle lock piece, sideplate lock, etc. Quantum built this reel very well. The freshwater version throws quite well, and the retrieve is not the smoothest, but adequete.

It buzzes on casts and retrieve when there is certain debri or gunk on the brake strike pad. Keep that clean and you won't have a problem. Far too many folks dismiss this reel upon hearing that, but all it takes is a little wipe to fix. I love mine.

I have the 770 saltwater reel. Exactly like the 760's just different coating for fishing in salt water. I find no difference at all in the casting or retrieving of the 770.

Are you using it in a freshwater application?
