My local feed store switched to a different kind of range cube and I don't think they are as good for chum as the type they replaced. Can this be possible? The brand they are selling now are M.G. mighty good. The MG are light brown and very crumbly where as the other type were dark brown, long and very hard (easy on the comments). I am not sure of the name of the other range cubes. But It seems as though I caught a lot more catfish with the old kind than with the new kind.
Any recommendations on the type to buy? The kind I buy now has 20% protein, 2.5% fat, and 16% fiber. thanks

Buy Purina. Our cattle love it and the cats work great for it. If they change quality on the range cubes, the cattle owners will tell them soon!

I wouldn't think it would matter! When you compare what's in them its should almost be the same.

I think the higher the protein the better not sure though

We're getting into a cattle farming question. The better the range cube, the fatter the cattle get! Range cubes are different. Example, you like steak. T-Bones or Sirloin. They are different. Two different cuts of meat. Your choice of which one is better. Just like a cheap brand of range cubes. Now wouldn't it make you mad if you ordered Sirloin and got hamburger. Their's is a difference in range cubes.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I will take big zee's suggestion and ask if they will order me a couple bags of purina. I should also mention that the owners at the feed store are new and are catering more towards domestic animals like cats and dogs. I live 40 minutes north of Houston and it seems as though every farm/ranch that used to be in the vicinity are subdivisions now. So I guess selling dog and cat food is where the money is and livestock feed are on the back burner I guess. Its also the only feed store for a long ways. thanks for all the input.

If you get a chance, try the feed store on 290, headed west (out of town). They used to carry the hard stuff but I haven't been by there in a year or so.

Look and see if there is a Tractor Supply around you. They often carry cube

Amen on Tractor Supply and you might also buy a bag of Horse cubes as they have molasses built in to them as well-kitty fish might like that-usually a little higher than cattle cubes

Do not get the horse feed with molasses, unless you want to attract more carp, my opinion

A lot depends on the source of the protein. The ones that get the majority of their protein from alphalfa are not nearly as affective as the ones that use cotton seed meal and soybean meal. Read the ingredients on the small white label before you buy them.

This past weekend we used Purina on Texhoma. Worked good.
