Fished with my son this morning, so it was all good.
We found a boat show early on flats and stopped long enough to find out they were just hoping. We headed toward the dam and ran into a top water hybrid bite. They were all in the 4-5 lb range and we picked off a half dozen plus a couple of small hangers-on before they headed for parts unknown. (Great fun on light spinning tackle!) We found a school of smaller sand bass near the dam and caught a few before they dissapeared. After that we graphed fish every where we went, but nobody was hungry.
Ended a great day with my son at the catfish place where we put a dent in the catfish population. (Not to mention the hushpuppy population!)

Hush puppies are real easy to catch. First you put a little butter on the end of your tounge. The lean over the basket they are schooled up in and wiggle your tounge back and forth. They may want the wiggle slow or quick, you have to patern them.
When one jumps up after the butter and your tounge, close your mouth real quick being careful that your tounge is all the way inside before your teeth get together. Chew until it goes away and repeat as needed.

Seems like everywhere I went this weekend I was a few minutes too late. Small blessing told me twice that I just missed them.

I only boated two legals hybrids all weekend and only a half dozen sandies.

But there is always another day.

Now if you could just get some new carpeting on that boat of yours. It was a struggle today, cleaned 31 nice Sandies and one cat, not stacked anywhere.
glad you did well.

Well sounds like you did well if you found legal hybrids. It was good seeing some of you guys out this week. I stayed north like i generally do when it gets hot and did ok. No legal hybrids but lots of nice sandies. We found fish as shallow as 8ft of water in the middle of the day. Same pattern as last year and it should stick around for the next 6 weeks or so.
I have tomorrow off so maybe I'll see you guys on Tuesday. Say hi if you see me.

My trip fell through in like a lead brick so I guess I will stay home and do yardwork. You could bet that I would put more than 31 in the box, did not want to harass the guides and go up north where they were.
