Ok quick question I hope can be answered. So I saw the side/down scan from Lowrance....very impressive. I have the 797si and I'm gonna switch to the lowrance. Does the thru the hull work properly with the HDS(Temp, Imaging, etc)??? Also will i need to get the gps puck since i'm gonna dash mount it???? Anyone want to purchase a 797si complete??????????

I think the GPS is built in on all HDS units according to the guy at Dad's Attic and the guy at Bass Pro.

First, the side/down scan won't come with the HD unit , it
will be an add-on.
Second, the s/d scan transduce can't be mounted inside the
hull.
third, the hd 5 has an internal gps antenna, there have
been some problems noted with dash mounts, I don't know
if there is an externa antenna available or not.

I have an HD5 on my bow, will add the sidescan this fall.

The new side scan is going to available on the hds 8 and 10. They will have a addon for the 5 and 7. you have to mount outside the hull to get a tempature read.

There is an external GPS antenna available that offers quicker GPS updates to the unit. All HDS units will be able to use the LSS-1 StructureScan module. Lowrance may put some packages together that include the LSS-1 module, but what I have available to me nothing(HDS-5,7,8,10) is bundled yet with the LSS-1. You can hook up to 3 HDS units to the LSS-1 StructureScan module.
