Geez' Bobby, now nobody will believe it slipped my mind about what specific bait to use from the chum. Everybody will get on the boat giving me the evil eye about this! blush
I'd probably remember to tell folks to use them (we call them "Flat F......") when digging through the cull.
Had Sandtrout on my mind as insurance in case the big show started, but not the F.F.'s. Thanks for the reminder, really!

Joe, we're going to be running hard, out to the areas to fish and from boat to boat. I don't think trolling will be much of an option on this trip, unless we have done what we set out to do (lots of fish) and have time left. Maybe a weedline will be found and trolled a bit, but I'm expecting to run at fast all the time. Plan on it if you want, but don't be disappointed if we do not have the time for it.

Back to Bobby, never used live piggies at the shrimpboats, small ones work best?

Be good to see you and others at the dock if possible.

does Kingfisher have a galley where they sell food/drinks, or do we need to bring all our own food/drink/beer? If they do have a galley, what kind of stuff do they have?

Jig

On private charters they do not provide anything but Bait and Tackle.. bring your own food and drinks.
They do have a Microwave if you want to bring frozen stuff to heat up.
They did have a Coffee maker but I have not fished with them in 2 years.

Hey Bazz,

My girlfriend and I may come up late Wed night and would be interested in bay fishing for Thur. Do you have any rec's for a guide for anyone else. Probably a half day trip would work. Thanks for any input.

Wish I could help but I don't know of any.
I'd call DSH and ask if they can recommend someone...
or ask Willie/ TOO. He's bound to know of some.

Charlie ....

I am going to try to make it over to the docks. Hope to see you guys. Will Koty be making the trip? Rick?

Willie ....

Yeah, for some reason I have always caught more tuna on those little Butterfish. Live piggies work well too if the BFT are present. We have used them a few times.

I don't know how long it has been since you fished the Kingfisher but it has A/C now and if it is working properly the fumes shouldn't be as big of a problem. Your captain will be Clint. He took Tony's place and is really a great guy. Very mellow and even keeled. I haven't fished with him on the KF but he has decked and been backup captain on some 48 hr. trips I have done and is an enjoyable guy to fish with.

Joe ....

Dang it! I am putting my 16' in the shop for an engine tune up on Monday and don't see any way I'll have it back by Wednesday or Thursday or I would be glad to take you and GF fishing. If you can't get a boat consider taking the jetty boat over (1st trip leaves Woody's @6 AM I think) to the north jetties and take some live shrimp. You can catch all the piggies you want to toss out for reds and specks. Even Jacks, Kings and Tarpon too.

Hope to see you guys...

Bobby

Joe if you need a guide, Cliff Webb is the man. We have fished with him a couple of times and always caught nice fish!

Bobby..

Coty is in J-Ville Fla.. Navy. She is getting transferred to San Diego in Sept so she wont be home in July this year.

My long time working Buddy Rick that went on the first Son One trip passed away this past Sept.. I will miss fishing with him.

I'm bringing CAF Warbird Guru Larry.. he just got back from Sitka Alaska.. says he caught a 150# Halibut cheers

I guess Larry, Beto and I will try the South Jetty unless Willie can find something better. To bad you can't fish the spoil area off the bank right by the Port "A" Ferry. I always see birds working and trout busting the top there when the tide is going out.

Joe, email sent. Let me know if things work out, or not. If not, we got other options.
Awesum, talked to Clint over the last few weeks, he's on the same page as us about what we want. Just need tuna to agree as well.
I know you answered, but just for my dense brain, smaller piggies for tuna? Half dollar size-ish?
Bazz, got a couple of hot spots around the area. We'll check them out and let you know if the bite is there. Problem is one spot is best about the time the 7pm dinner might be getting done. You'll want a few hot pink slow sinking Mirrolures at this spot, or live shrimp under an Alameda rattling float if youre not too picky?
The ferry area can be fished, need to be able to cast far. Usually it's reds there, but I'm guessing trout will feed there as well. Slip float will work, you need wind at your back and a good casting rig.
We'll let you know what we figure out. Your group up to wading?

Willie .... When we have used piggies it's sort of been like whatever comes up in the dip net. I think both large and small will work but my thinking is that if you get them too small then you may have the Boneheads to contend with.

Charlie .... So very sorry to hear about Rick ... I know you miss him. He was fun.

Thanks Willie

I don't think we will wade.. at our age would take up too much energy we will need offshore nuts Casting with a slip cork or Mirrolure would work.

Bazz, you guys going out on the Pelican from DSH ? If so, is Capt John still around? We always went in Oct. with him...but I'm not sure he's even there anymore. You do know that reading this is getting me excited, eh ? And no...I cant go. But I may make a run to Galveston next weekend...since you guys have whet my appetite with these posts. Gotta go down on "business" yanno.. <wink>

Now, Donald...please pick John Bolton for your running mate.
