What are your guys opinions on running ray bob? I have never been to the lake and wanted to fish up some creeks on the east side. If I put in at the Sanger ramp how hard is it to run up to say Buck Creek or should I put in at a ramp on the east side?

You could put in at Buck Creek, then it's pretty easy to follow the telephone poles out.

It is clear until you get to Wolf Island. Lots of standing timber in 50 feet of water, would be a good idea to slow down or follow someone through. Lanes are marked but you have to know what you are looking for and which side of the markers to run.

I have been running raybob for the last 10 years and have not found a "marked lane" lane that I would trust. Your best bet is to find somebody that knows the lake and go out with them. Or putt-putt around untill you figure it out. There are some real motor monsters that will eat you in alot of areas. As for following any joe out there that quetionable too. Putting in at buck is a good option lots of areas to fish and you won't even need to run.

Truck gas is cheaper than boat gas. Put in at Buck if you want to fish up there. I've fished Ray Rob for my entire life and still won't run some of the creeks up there past a certain point.

Your first time, my advice is to crawl. There are areas marked with tape, reflecters and other materials. My Question was at what level were these placed?
With the unpredictable water level over the years, I have my runs saved to "My Trails" (GPS). After it drops to 3.5' I will slow down in some areas.
Buck Creek Ramp would be best suited to explore the East Creeks.
Like stated above, It would be nice to follow someone, just not sure of their experience.
There are some HUGE trees(stumps, limbs) that come out of nowhere.
Not trying to scare ot intimidate just warning you.
Might consider a Guide.

There are no boat lanes. Listen to the above advice or get the number of a good lower unit man on your speed dial.

I also fish Raybob a lot and have my 'trails' marked but I'm still careful especially when the water starts to drop.

i've fished ray roberts for the last 8 years
when i'm in the timber i just go fast enough to stay on plane in areas i know real well. if i'm not sure i putt around.

if you launch at the sanger ramp its mostly clear water till wolf island, its heavilly wooded north, and east of wolf island. If you want to fish buck creek i'd recommend using the buck creek ramp you can run along the telephone poles to get around up there.

I'll run from the dam to Wolf and idle the rest.

Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

Some guides will let you follow them for a fee. I did this, and it was one hell of a ride. Unreal how close some of those trees were!

Thanks of all the input. I think I am going to put in at the Sanger ramp and run to wolf island then idle from there. There is alot of good looking stuff both north and south of wolf island that I want to check. I will be in a 2002 blue skeeter zx200 "thats for-sale" so if you see me don't hesitate to say hi.
