I was thinking about switching to braid. Has anyone had any problems with it tearing up your rod guides?

i only use braid on my frog and flipping rods just so i can hoss the fish out of the cover. other than that Flourocarbon works just as good plus you can feel the bite with the Flouro

Are you talking cutting into them? It won't hurt ceramic guides. As it gets older and more limp it wild get "wind knots" where it wraps around the tip which is usually just an inconvenience unless you don't notice it before setting the hook on a fish.

It works fine for jigs, frogs and some plastics but a pain using cranks and spinnerbaits. The rod guides used these days don't groove much at least not mine. I use the stealth braid and it has a coating that makes it slide easier and not so much noise from the braid going through the guides .

I was thinking about switching to braid. Has anyone had any problems with it tearing up your rod guides? Braid has it's place. I use it for Carolina Rigging with a mono leader. I also use it for jigs, swim baits. and frogs.

Use Suffix Braid on all my bait casting reels and most of the time with a flourocarbon leader. On Falcon I may not use the flourocarbon leader when I would on other lakes. Using the leader alows for fishing clearer lakes and also for the ease of lb test adjusting without having to totally respool a reel. The braid last much longer than any flourocarbon or mono. Braid is alsow easier to get backlashes out and doesn't leave any permanent kinks in the line after getting out a backlash. I do not like braid on spinning gear though.

I recently tried the P-Line Spectrex braid for flipping and pitching and like it so far. I used mono backing and then 30yds of braid. I can cast it fairly well if I need to.
