I have heard "Hook the fish first, then worry about getting it out of the cover". Jigs are wonderful for this way of fishing.

How many of you guys think a trailer is necessary?

The trailer is actually the bait your throwing, unless your swimming a jig and then how many baitfish do you see without tails. Swimming it through the water w/o a trailer looks like a big blob. And a jig resting on the bottom, the strands will flair out and look like weeds moving on the bottom and a bare hook. If your in an area and catching fish with a trailer on, take it off and see how few bites you get then. The jig itself just adds bulk to your bait when moving and adds movement when your jig is not moving.

Either one is good.. However I prefer the plastic trailers because there are so many sizes, shapes and colors to match the jigs.
Pork will dry out very fast in the Hot weather and it's a pain to get off the hook. Most Jig Fisherman use Pork in the coldest winter water situations because it is a bit more buoyant and makes a jig fall slower.

Thanks! Are there plastics specifically for jigs or do you just use any worm, lizard, etc??
