Just started tying with the sheet foam. Been reading about Chernobyl flies. They seem to be very popular for trout out West. Anybody tied and /or tried them for bass?

Bass will eat anything. I have no doubt they will work for bass tied in bigger sizes.

Not the Chernobyls but alot of foam spiders and poppers. Like Cole said, they love it all.

I figured they would work. I like to tie different patterns but thought i'd ask about effectiveness before tying a handful. Think I'll tie some and give them a try this weekend.

yv_, I'm lovin' the sig there man. If there is something with lots of wiggly legs sitting on the surface and it looks like it's fluttering and trying to get away, bass generally adopt a 'eat first, question later' approach. I hooked a 3lbish bass last week on a sz 16 Royal Coachman I was messing around with for bluegill in a farm pond.

yes chernoybls work on basses and they work in sizes like 10 and 12 I would suggest a 6 on like a streamer hook, and tie in a couple extra legs, or thick legs to make it look right...

From this same pond a few years ago I was fishing for bluegill with a sz 14 yellow dry fly reminiscent of a Sulphur and watched an 8lb channel catfish rise from the depths and engulf it. Quite the dramatic moment. I just love pond fishing because it's almost always a sure thing.
