Okay fly tyers...what are the latest flies you've been working on? I made some Silver Outcasts lately, a couple of fatheads that didn't come out so good, and now I am working on some Mickey Finn flies in bucktail as well as calf tail too. I am trying to liven this place up a bit. I would love to hear what you are tying now too.

Working on spoon flies for the coast. Tricky to get this one just right.
I shall persevere!

Lots of Clousers in different colors for an upcoming trip and maybe a swap after that. I tried a shad imitation quasi-puglisi that turned out ok I guess but I need to put some eyes on it. I've made a few spoon flies in the past and the hardest part for me was getting an epoxy that didn't harden yellow. That, and I don't have a drying wheel.

I wish I could be tying flies, I'm working on torque and force problems instead!

If a tier were working on Deep Clousers on #2 hooks, tying with Big Fly Uni thread, how much force applied to the bobbin would be required in order to obtain the proper torque to ensure maximum attachment coefficient of the lead eyes to the hook shank? Show your work....

I like the types of flies y'all are working on. I am thinking of making some more Thunder Creeks in the near future. I have also made some small Blonde's. I wish this dang camera wasn't such a terrible camera, I'd be posting pics like crazy. I did see a good one at Sam's...was looking for future reference. My birthday cannot come soon enough...I will hopefully have enough moolah to buy something that is decent for fly photos. Speaking of that, I need to go read reviews on that camera. Samsung NV4 is camera a friend told me was decent for fly photos. I will check on that one too. I need something fairly inexpensive, but one that will do the job.

I think Salmon flies are gorgeous. But I won't be doing any salmon fishing for some time...when the kids are out of the house maybe. For now I am going to stick with warmwater and trout flies. I would love to see your salmon flies...I think they are soooo beautiful!! They are a work of art, and take a long time to do, if done right. I have a friend that makes some, and sells them.

Hopefully I can start on them this weekend.

Some Salmon flies are $500+! You are quite right, and some much more. It depends on how difficult it is, and the cost of materials...some can be extremely expensive. I love the look of salmon flies, and spey flies...I hope to learn before long how to do a little of the easier versions that you can fish. I might make a few just for show. (for me) The guy I know says he gets an order for a certain type of fly, and he makes it to order. He does not have a "set price". Imagine that...I don't know if I have the patience to work on a fly for several or even a few days...but he does.
