Hey guys so I have a small Jon Boat and I have some little 3 lb anchors but they are very hard to get stuck sometimes, so I am tired of messing with them.. So my question is which type of anchor would be best for me?? I never fish in any current, I would only anchor up in open water so would I use a fluke style, river anchor, a heavy mushroom, or what?? Thanks in advance.

The slide anchor holds my 21ft cc in 20+ winds with no problem.

IMO the digger is too much for your requirements. So is a fluke...even a small one. I would recommend a mushroom or river anchor. A small one will be adequate and you're not as likely to get it hung in a brush pile, etc. Easy to store and covered with vinyl. Be sure to put about three feet of chain on it between the anchor and the line. That way it will drag horizontally and hold better. My number two suggestion would be a very small fluke with chain.

+1

With that flat bottom boat of yours you shouldn't need much. And if you ever find that you do, just add some more chain. To bad we don't live closer. I have a mushroom for you that I would give you for cheap. I'm wanting to replace it with a fluke.

Little anchor tip in case you do find your self dragging: tie off at the nose of the boat. When you tie off on the side of your boat the wind has much more surface area to blow up against. So you'll need a stronger grab on the bottome to hold you in position. Putting the nose of the boat into the wind will decrease that wind resistance.

I would also suggest a mushroom anchor. They do not cost much and they have a vinyl coating which will help keep your boat clean and you can wrap the rope around it when you put it away.

Cinder block

If you want to get all fancy and want to spend $100+ get you a digger. For $25 get a chene. For less then $5 please see above.

I built my box anchor for less than 40 bucks. I looked at you and your dad build up your boat. I'd bet one of y'all know a welder.
