Clint,
What did your clients say? More importantly, did you go to another hole and put them on as good of fish?

From knowing his reputation, I bet they left that hole only to go to a better one! The idiots probably did clint's clients a favor by running them off!!

A 1 oz sinker or big Trap without hooks tied on will do a good job of keeping people at a respectable distance if they aren't smart enough to figure out that distance on their own.

Unfortunately, it's nothing new on Fork. Back in the mid 80s, I was fishing with my Dad and had a similar situation. Fishing the pipeline during the week with pretty much no one else on the water and this idiot pulls in right next to us. I mention to my Dad who hadn't noticed how close he was because he was busy messing with something. Dad stood up and bounced a Trap off the guy's trolling motor. He mumbled something and Dad hollerd back at him "if you're close enough for me to hit you, you're too dam close". To this day, I keep that in mind.

There is not much angler to angler respect on Fork. If you don't have thick skin, it's tough to fish there.

You and all the other guides on Fork have my respect for dealing with all the inconsiderate anglers on a day to day basis.

I used to get mad and ruin part of my day because of situations like you and your clients went through, but now I just move on like you did.

WTG!

Maybe your actions will rub off on others.

y'all help a non-Fork fisherman out. Has Fork really got to the point to where, when someone comes up where you are fishing, says they are going to tie up to your boat, trolls in front of where you are casting in 5 feet of water, that the acceptable and "right" thing to do, according to many on this forum, is to tell them what bait you are using and leave?

I can't for the life of me believe how fishing has got. The lack of respect for others and lack of respect for themselves. There is hardly a day that goes by that I'm on the water (I fish alot of deep water structure away from the bank) that someone doesn't drive right over where I'm fishing and puts a waypoint on it. Had a guy follow me on Sandlin last Sunday. I just can't comprehend someone pulling up on someone else. I use to get mad but now I just overlook them as idiots and not let it ruin my day. There is only one way to become a good fisherman and that is to get out and learn to find your own fish. Just my .02 cents.

I'm sure if you were in his shoes you would have chunked a few lures at the other boat and told them where to go. Good for you.

We ended up having a great night and caught fish in several different areas. I promise there is more than one spot on Lake Fork where fish live. This particular night just happened to be a trip with some regular clients of mine. Thankfully, they have complete confidence in my abilities. So leaving that one spot, did not bother them a bit. We just talked about it and I explained to them that what those guys did was not proper fishing etiquette. I let them know that what happened to us, is a good example of what not to do to someone else.
For those of you that want to start a confrontation (over a fishing spot) at midnight in the pitch black while no one is around in the middle of the lake, have at it.
If it would have happened to be a day trip and my clients want to fist fight another boat over a spot, I'm always up for a good challenge:) Just kidding!!

I would have told them that You have a responsibility to your clients to put them on fish. Since they are fishing a tournament it is their responsibility to find their own fish and not solicit information from a guide during the tournament. Tell them that if they need help finding fish to hire you before the next tournament. After all how fair is it to the others in the tournament if one team is getting free information from a guide during the tournament.

I agree. I think that's half the fun.

Guys, I'm outside looking in here but on the Louisiana lakes I fish, I've never had trouble like what I've seen described on the TFF over the years. Oh yeah a few minor situations but not bad.

It's my guess that it has to do with the number of anglers and the amount of fishable water available close to high population centers such as Dallas and Houston and such.

Just my .02
