We got spoiled 2 weeks ago when we had non-stop action on multiple schools of 16 & 17” sandbass. Well, the non-stop action was about the same but the sandbass were on the smaller side. We caught them for a couple hours out in front of Avalon to the dam w/ the occasional 15+ incher. Got bored catching the smaller ones & decided to try a couple other places looking for bigger fish. Found some other schools but it was more of the same and not as fast so we went back to the Avalon area. They were still busting the surface so we went at it again. Quit around noon w/ 11 good ones in the cooler. That was all my brother wanted to fillet anyways. Fun day w/ my 2 brothers, a friend and a couple other friends in their own boats fishing next to us. Here’s a few pics, nothing special but just wanted to take a few & practice posting. Oh, all fish caught on white or chartreuse slabs, little georges, small rattle trap & constant double hook-ups on fly-slab combo. These flies were made by Bill Sankey (FLY). Caught a lot of fish & held up well. Nice job Bill.

Thanks Nitro. I'm surprised nobody else spoke up. It's fixed now - date was 7/12 not 6/12.

Yeah Bill, those flies that you make are tough. I caught a lot of sandies on the one I was using & it still looks new. I guess I won't need anymore for a while since they last so long smile. You'll have to come w/ me sometime soon. Taking the nephew & my 2 brothers weekend after this one. Maybe the following if you can manage a Sunday off?

Very slow on Lavon today. Some schooling out from Avalon Park but they were small. Caught one nice sandbass about l5 inches long and several small ones. The wind was supposed to be 10-15 miles per hour but it was stronger than that with gusts up to at least 25 mph. Maybe next time!!

JSIG,
Name a date pard, I've got vacation coming that the boss wants me to use.

BASANGLER,
Where did you try? Slabbing or chasing schoolies, trolling? That wind can turn Lady Lavon into a screaming witch in minutes.

We were slabbing in the schoolies out from Avalon Park but they were small. Did some slabbing on the east end of the island and also some trolling without any luck. There were fish there but were not interested. Like I said before, it was windy on the lake most of the morning. Went over by the dam to get out of the wind and caught a few small sandies trolling. Only one nice sandy with several small ones. Not a great day but would have been good to be out except for the wind.
