Arrived at the gate at 630 this morning for our first trip to calaveras and decided to launch using the ramp to the right as you come in. As we circled around we noticed a line of trucks and noone on the ramp. After sitting in line for about a min I noticed the top of the back window of what looked like a Ford Expedition barely visable in the water. I am glad to say that I had a much better day that the guy who's truck ended in the lake... how does that happen anyway?

Since this was my first trip to the lake we mostly trolled around checking out the lake. My brother in law and I each caught a catfish while trolling early this morning and then he caught a hybrid about 930. All fish caught trolling shad/tilapa colored crank baits. Nothing after that.

Did meet fellow TFFer Mike (southern boy) on the ramp as we were leaving and wanted to say thanks for the tips for my next trip.

heard it was a king ranch expedition that backed in & supposedly the ramp has alot of algae making it slippery, needless to say they called the tow truck & pulled the boat trailer & truck out, very expensive mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reds have been hitting real well down rigging a rootbeer gold
shad bait or silver johnson minnow jig.
