TFFer's,

Heading to Murray this weekend and hope I can recieve some insight on that Lake. Being very hot I expect it to be a little rough. I'm going to have some young kiddo's with me so I guess I will try to search for the easier sandies on the lake. I heard there is small mouth out there so that would be awsome since I never hooked one before. If anyone has GPS or locations they would like to share please PM me if you like and I promise I won't blast that info out. I did by a lake map to try to study a little bit. Thank-You for any Help

launch at the state park (exit 24 off I35, straight east to lodge) go to the south end of the lake and back to the east water will go from 65' to 20' pretty quick got some smallies there coupla weeks ago in tourney, water is real hot right now (90 surface temp at tourney). for the smallies real early in the a m go diagonal from the state park to the 3rd large cove across the lake (look at about 10:00) water in center of cove is 45-50 ft and the bottom jumps up to 25' then slopes to the bank. shakey heads with watermelon or pumpkin senkos were workin in 20-25' after about 9:30 in the mornin. try hula grubs in root beer/green, watermelon/red, or black/blue on football heads around the rocky points and bluffs.
VERY VERY IMPORTANT WATCH THE DEPTH, THIS LAKE IS NOTORIOUS FOR JUMPING UP FROM 65' TO 2' IN A FLASH (WE TALKIN THE MAIN LAKE HERE)just stay out in the middle of the main lake areas to run and slow down when going into coves or other areas.
also try the southern end of the big island, the point goes out a long long long way and dropps off from abut 14' to 65 ro 70' fast, real good place for the sandies/smallies.
good luck, post some pics when you get back.

I think it is $23. I caught some last year with a jerkbait over deep water when they were busting bait in the center of the coves. Also a chartruce and blue crankbait reeled as fast as you can will get you bit.

I just posted a few pics in the photo section of our trip. My wife got her first smallie and we managed a few. We only fished the heat of the day 12-6pm. hope you have/had good luck! This is a great lake.

Bass fishing is like a 30,000 acre golf course with no flags and five holes you can't see- Tim
