Joe, if people would follow this advice, things would go a lot smoother. As far as ethics, if it is legal according to state law, I would consider it ethical.

because a guy puts in a little extra work and time doesnt mean he should be penalized for it. should i gripe if a guy has a faster boat than me,a better reel, no its all part of it.

From a bank fisherman's perspective, is using electronics to find the brush pile and fish ethical? Tournaments should be run without electronics, and just one type of lure. That would be interesting.

Never heard of baited holes for bass.

AS for planting brush piles. CC is a prime example of very little cover for fry, fry of all types to survive, the trees have rotted long ago and provides not nutrients to the water anymore. Very little vegitation.

If it wasn't for the guys who plant brush for crappie and bass, there wouldn't be as good of fishing in my opinion.

Fry needs cover to survive.

Kudos to those that do. They took the time and effort to "hopefully put them in good locations". Hard work pays off for those that do, why penalize them for the extra effort. Want an level playing field, find some or plant some. But don't cry cause some work harder than others to gain an added advantage once in awhile, they don't always win the money.

Oops just read the other thread on ethics, but I'll leave me reply here too lazy to move it.

The unethical part about it is when the angler catches bass all week, transplants those bass to his secret brush pile location, to then go back to next day or later in a tournament to catch those "baited" bass. They will hold to that cover if they are transplanted. Studies show bass that are relocated will not move in the short term. And if they are put by good cover in a creek channel dropoff, bingo for bass in the tournament. I'm an old fart used to tournament fish many years ago but no longer. I discovered what others were doing from fishing river tournaments back east. The same principle applies to reservoirs.

I don't see anything wrong with planting a brush pile, if it is legal to do so on the lake. For the baiting part, if you are talking about planting bass, then that is wrong and unethical. It is also against the rules in many tournaments to "salt" a spot.

More brush in the lake the better. As far as moving when someone shows up. I don't think so.

And I know who "Jeff" is.

in no way are brushpiles unethical. if it is legal in that lake, it is ok. brushpiles are alot of work, and as stated before very many of them have to be set before you get a good one.
