I have a couple of spinning outfits but haven't taken them out for a spin in a while. They probably need new line.
When stripers are seventy feet down it's time to give up on sinking line and get out the conventional.

I do have lots of spinning gear, but I have no baitcasters. I use them rarely, most of the time when I use them is when I am either fishing with my son and want to find out what they're biting on so he can catch fish, or sometimes with conventional fishing friends, and just want with the same way they are. Otherwise, its almost always the fly rod.
John 5:24 Very truly I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
1Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.

I have quite a few baitcasters. I enjoy using them. But it's not as satisfying as catching a fish on a fly rod with a fly you tied.

I recently broke down and bought a bait caster. Now I feel guilty and dirty. This must be what it feels like to cheat on your wife with a unattractive prostitute.
I know the feeling. You've probably spent the better part of the last day sitting on the shower floor crying, trying to wash it all away. If you had bought a nice Revo it would feel more like cheating with an attractive prostitute - which, strangely, doesn't feel all that bad. As with prostitutes, so it is with baitcasters - the more you spend, the more you get. Flipping a silky smooth baitcaster feels kinda sexy, and there's no shame in sexy.

Nothing sinful about using the right tool for the job. Using the wrong tackle and/or wrong presentation for the situation (structure, conditions, habitat etc.) you are in is at best casting practice and at worst insanity, but if you find yourself reaching for the bait-caster when the fly rod will work we can arrange an intervention.

The Citca D's were truly sweet I must say. The E's feel like [censored] IMHO. I don't fish conventional very often but when I do I use a Citca 100 D!

please explain what the [censored] is. cause if you don't have a [censored] smell on your hands, then you aren't catchin fish! Unless you either can't catch, have someone remove your fish or wear sissy gloves, then your hands are probably gonna stink.
are you saying you can cast conventional better or that you are just plain better?

Don't think of it as a sin. Think of it as being more versatile.
Fly fishing is fun and all but it's not the end all be all. I am with you 100% I always bring both fly rod and spinning/baitcaster with me. What works is what I care about and catching fish.

I bought a Penniacle Solene bait casting reel and put it on a Abu Garcia Conolon rod and it seems to work alright so far. The whole set up was just a little over $100 bucks. It looks pretty, but it's still no fly rod.
I will probably buy one more set up, just to have a extra one. I don't even know what happened to all my conventional gear. Guess it was lost in time.
Only thing that really chaps my [censored] is the price of lures now days. My jaw dropped when I saw the price of Rapalas, some where close to $8.
Now I need to get me a shirt. Covered with logos of companys that don't sponcer me in any way......that seems to be the cool thing to do these days.
