learned last night that my nephew's son was killed in Afghanistan..Joshua Farris...I had been encouraging/supporting, sending snacks, magazines and just now had another package to send him..only had few months left and anxious to come home..here's last email July 4

Hey, got some really good news. I am now in a counter IED unit that is practically SF. The facilities are A+, showers, phones, internet, food, laundry, etc.I can call anytime I have time off!......I still can't believe that it was me that got the big break! The main thing is the work environment-----we actually make a difference and do our jobs, kicking in doors, disarm bombs, interigate and so on.....soooooo everyone that's tired of hearing me bitch and moan can say bye bye to the lectures....N E ways just thought I'd drop that on you, and i still can't wait to see you guy's stateside, later

I'm sorry....I don't know any words that express my feelings. I couldn't imagine loosing a son.....When I first got out of service a few years ago I used to have nightmares about my buddies that were still serving. I just try not to think about it now.
