I was out there on Proctor this morning. No dead fish that I could see anywhere on the banks we pounded upon. We passed two floaters, one tiny drum and one nice sized striper but that was it.
It is very shallow for sure. heh I thought y'all were exaggerating. We got through the gate right at 6am and started pounding the crud out of some south facing rock banks.
Very light and finicky bites from about 6:30am until 9:30 / 10am then it got really thin. End of the day score was several bites I couldn't connect, two bites that hooked up but snapped off the hooks, and two small LMB landed. We tried cranks of all depths, top waters of all flavor, and what finally started getting the bites the two fish were pumpkin / chartreuse baby ring fry, and red bug 4" ring fry. This one was the first fish I've ever caught on a plastic worm.
Next time I'll remember to check my line wear when I'm working the rocks like that. All in all I didn't see any evidence of a mass fish kill going on. I'm not saying there isn't one, I just didn't see any of the dead fish mentioned. Maybe whatever it was has stabilized.

2,700 fish die in Lake Proctor By MEGHAN DONALD Staff Writer meghan.donald@empiretribune.com Published: Wednesday, July 8, 2009 9:04 AM CDT
A few weeks ago, fisherman and camp patrons alike began to notice an influx of dead fish at Lake Proctor in Comanche County. After an investigation by Melissa Tidmore, a pollution biologist with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Departments Spills and Kills team, it was preliminarily concluded that the fish died of a pesticide that was applied too close to the lake. The pesticide, which is unknown to Comanche County Game Warden Mike Alexander, washed downstream after the county experienced torrential rains.
Alexander said the fish that died were mostly white bass, hybrid bass and freshwater drums. It has been speculated that the pesticide originated at a nearby pecan orchard, but Alexander points out that there is other crop land upstream from the lake. Alexander said that since the fish spill was investigated, he had not seen any more fish dying off en masse, but said that the lake usually claims about 100 fish per day in the hot temperatures, due to lack of oxygen.

the important part to remember "the lake usually claims about 100 fish per day in the hot temperatures, due to lack of oxygen." the initial hit was a pesticide (i was wrong ) but good news is that many fish usually die in a month anyway so it saved the lives of some fish that would have died to oxygen anyway (evening things out [kinda]) fish are still good eatin and all of this can finally come to an end i'm just glad it's not a turnover!

most of that is BS from a reported that don't know #%^@ about anything biological or chemical. (Long story short if it's not dead from the initial kill of pesticide then you're ok) even the limited amounts that remain in fish that were in contact will be fine to eat. I eat fish out of tanks from dairies and crop fields that are heavily "polluted" due to runoff when fish begin to die from it so they don't go to waste. if a story about mercury or some heavy metal comes up i'll worry.
fish are fine i've been eatin em about every other day (even the one's caught during the "heavy" part of the fish kill
