WOW, The post about LL sound great. I am a bass pond/bank fisherman. I have 3 boys 6, 12 & 16. Last week I decided to buy a boat to spend more time with them. It goes so quick. Anyway now we have a V-16 Tracker and have chased the sandies around Lavon. The recent post about LL have made it our destination for tomorrow AM. So I am looking for any sugguestions on where to launch, where to find them and how to catch them. I went out and bought some TNT slabs. They seem to be a popular choice. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

welcome
Look for the boat show ... And that will tell you a general idea of where to fish. Use your graph .. Look for schooling fish too!
Good luck and congrats on the new boat.

They were stacked along the east side of the dam in the early morning hours today. They moved with the wind throughout the morning - to the east That shut down by 10 AM and we made a run up the lake and picked up a few more before finding large schools once again. Caught 200 for the day. They wanted topwater baits - dropbaits like slabs and tailspin baits weren't as effective. I caught a number of small hybrids on a white buzzbait.

Thanks for the update. Anything on catching the stripers as far as what lb line I should use? I usually fish with a 4lb so it is a bit of a challenge and you can't just muscle them in. But then again a 4lb fish on the ponds I fish would be huge. I have some white chatter bait. Any launch sugguestions. Tomorrow it will be the two older boys and me up by 5 at the lake at 6. We are coming from Garland. Thanks again.

I've been using 15 pound Big-Game. Have you ever fished Ray-Hubbard? It used to be an awesome sandbass lake.

I only mention this since the jetty is easy access in a small boat - RH much closer to Garland.

Make sure you take some slabs in case they don't surface much.

Hmmm Haven't tried RH just saw a lot of posts about LL so We decided to try and find some Striper or Hybrids. The sandies are fun but we have only been finding the small ones. So we thought we would try our luck there. Thanks for the thread good stuff.

We will be changing to heavier poles and line it looks like. How do you pull specific old post of people or places?

I'm surprised no one has said it yet, but you probably won't catch any striper in LL. They haven't been stocked in about 10 years.

Ok?? Is it a Hybrid they have been bragging about? Or just really big sandies? I thought they were stripers. Where would you go for striper? Texoma is a little daunting for me right now as we have had the boat for a week.

Where would you hit first on LL. We are going in the am and want to get onto something bigger than the sandies we have found schooling at Lavon which were about 14" max

Thanks I am going to hit it in the morning, everything packed except for the two boys on the XBOX, part of the reason I bought us a boat. I swear there must be a sublimal image of girls on that thing it takes up a lot of their time.

I fished there for the first time this morning and it was a blast. As mention the dam is the hot spot for the sandies and I caught a lot of undersized hybrids and one keeper at 19" there. I counted at least ten boats if not more following the school, and this was a thursday morning. I started out with a slab but like texasblueheron mention, topwater is guaranteed to catch on every cast. Have a fun.
