the 25+ that was caught was not credited as a world record (Dottie) as the man who caught it admitted it was foul hooked and decided to turn her loose. that fish has since been found deceased in that body of water....George Perry still holds the record @ 22.4. this Japan fish would actually go down as a tie to the record according to the IFGA "rules".

so,
Its been over a week, what has become of this? Is it officially a tie now? is it documented?
Live bait, etc... anymore details, it kinda dropped off the map, and considering its a record you would think it would be talked about more.

It is a big fish. I don't think it will be classified as the new world record. It has to be more than what it was over the current record. Maybe shared. I didn't realize there were that big of bass in Japan. I knew they had stocked them in their lakes. Many won't them out because they were a foreign species established in their waters which has hurt their native species.

Wow... being an Asian it's a little depressing to see the attitudes here. BTW, made in America doesn't mean much really. I worked at a plastics factory and all our products poroudly said "MADE IN AMERICA" on the side but the plastic actually came from China and the metal components were assembled in Mexico. Not to mention the numerous illegal aliens working there...
Anyway...
I had no idea they had fish like that in Japan. I did quite a bit of bass fishing in Korea and never met anything nearly that big.
It's a shame to see so much squabbling over an ounce here and there. I don't care if it was caught on a trotline, rod and reel, or anything, still, if it weighs more than the previous record it's still bigger aint it?
I thought they had pulled some 25+ out of the California lakes where the bass get to feed on the juvenile trout?
