Could someone please explain how this works? Does there need to be a current? Does there need to be wind? I have done good with jigs without bobbers and minnows with bobbers, but have not done well with jigs under bobbers. I would think that a jig under a bobber in calm water would not do much...thanks a lot.

hey tex . the way i do it is cast it out and work it in while using a twitch and pause for anywhere between 4 and 10 seconds then repeat till you get a bite . use a small bobber and if a fish hits , the bobber will go under most all the time . we tore them up using this method this year up the creek from the bridge . hope this helps jesse

Hey jesse, Thanks for the info. Do you use a round bobber or pencil type. Also, what size jig? Thanks.

I like to use a bobber made of cork. It looks more natural like an acorn or tree bark floating in the water instead of a brightly colored white, red, or orange plastic bobber. I really don't know if the bright colors tend to spook the fish, but I like to err on the side of caution.

I would imagine the clear ones have a degree of stealth to them too looking like a bubble.

There's one...

FORGET THE COLOR, USE WHAT YOU CAN SEE BEST. THE FISH DON'T GIVE A DARN. MATERIAL ALSO DOESN'T MATTER, PLASTIC, FOAM, CORK ARE ALL OK. DON'T TRY TO GIVE ACTION TO THE JIG. FISH IT JUST LIKE YOU WOULD A MINNOW. LESS MOVEMENT IS BETTER. FISH PARALLEL TO THE SHORE SO THE LURE IS IN THE PROPER DEPTH LONGER. THIS IS A DEADLY WAY TO CATCH CRAPPIE.

MrJu: I use this setup extensively on my crappie lake, esp when they are shallow and you cannot get right over them and jig. By that I mean, using a long B & M pole and walk/wading up and dipping the jig. The bobber lets you 'cast it out there' as it were even shallow. My best set up is to use the Wally World 1/16 oz maribou jig in any color that you like (mine is the blk hd/chart body-tail) and the Comal cigar bobber #WCS200R PK-3, this bobber will barely float with this jig. Set if from 2 to 24" and go get them. PS: tip with crappie nibble. If you need a slip type holler and I will give you my setup. You should be able to get all componets at Wally World, at least you can at mine.

Thanks and Gig'em, Mark Fairchild

Its not rocket science. Remember that they are fish not people. Do yourself a huuuuuuuuge favor and buy Ernest's video (www.catchcrappie.com).

If they are there, the type of bobber doesn't matter. Within reason of course!

Yo Barn, email me and I will send it back. So as not to take credit where it is not due, this is Crappie!'s setup. Tommy on Lake Granger is THE REAL MR CRAPPIE and this setup works well and is VERY simple to use.

Thanks and Gig'em, Mark Fairchild
