Go to Cameron Park, just west of town. It's located at the confluence of the Brazos and Bosque rivers.

I lived in Waco for many years. Yea MBradford is right, if you go to Cameron Park there are some good spots. Also off Martin Luther Drive there is a turn out spot with a good ramp area, it is where they hold the speed boat races every summer. Across the river is Cameron Park so the location I'm pretty sure is where the bosque and brazos meet.

there is an area right across from the Baylor Marina that is usually pretty sweet. Put in at Cameron park east.

DO NOT PUT IN AT CAMERON PARK EAST!!!!
That is a hotspot for crime. Please use the MCC boat ramp down past the baseball fields. It is alot more secure and you have a dock there. The campus police are polite and friendly. They patrol that area constantly. It is just about a half mile from the Cameron Park's ramp by water.
The only thing is that the ramp will be shut down at times due to special events at the Bosque River Stage right by the boat ramp...but it does not happen that often. Only get shut down when there's someone big coming to town.

I always used the MCC boat ramp. Try fishing the rocks right at lovers leap. I have pulled some nice fish off of there. Then down past 35 is a couple of big coves. The first one is an old gravel pit behind some apartments. And further down is another old gravel pit. I know for a while there was an older gentlemen who would fish the river all the time in a white skeeter. I would not put in at cameron park.

ditto...I would never leave my truck at Cameron Park either...plus you have to watch for a$$hole people from Lovers Leap that seems to love to rain down rocks from the above cliffs...

i always launched at the ramp right off of martin luther. Never had any problems there. Try pitching to the brush piles under the bridges for bass and crappie.

I was just putting the info out there. I am a police officer at MCC. Ya'll can launch at Cameron Park East if ya'll want to. But I have had people try to break into my truck there once. I was pulling up in the boat and they ran off.

When I was a student at baylor the fishing on the brazos river below the lake whitney dam was phenomenal. LMB and SMB was extremely good. The only thing to watch out for though is that they do not tell you when they are opening the flood gates so if you take a boat up there it might be tough getting back if they open the gates while you are out there. Also it is really shallow is some spots. The fishing is worth the 40 minute drive up there below the dam of lake whitney.

Our club had a tourney out of this ramp last summer without any problems, but I have heard what you are saying from others.

BTW does anyone know when they are supposed to re-do park and boat ramp at cameron park east, I found these schemantics awhile back, it says they were supposed to start fall 2008 but they haven't. Hopefully having a gatehouse there in the future will cut down on the problems.
