Mickfly, kelkay and a few other mentioned Schminnows. I had to give them a try.

Perhaps these will break my curse below Denison Dam.
My Attempt At Schminnows

Video is a good one, no point in overdoing that particular point.

Schminnows make a good looking fly. I tied most all of mine on a jig hook.

Dale, we are two peas in a pod. I sat there tying them thinking to myself how relaxing it was and how wonderfully fishy they look.

As an aside, Evan took your Sage two weight fishing last weekend. He was roll casting a bomber over some Mrs. Baird's chum and a great big old channel cat came up, took the bomber and then spit it out before he could get a hook set. A bit of a thrill, that kitty was a good five pounds.

Kelly's Jig Hook Schminnows rule - hook point up saves flies from snags on nasty structure.

Robin those look exactly like mine, but mine had the jig hook. You have the exact same chenille stuff I do, now I forgot the name of it, but I have it in about 4 colors. Great stuff. Your flies look perfect. (I even have the black eyes...hehehe)

Why thank you Kelly! I am going to tie some blue ones up. Dennis North told me that blue is the hot color on Caddo. My trip with him last year confirmed that. I only caught fish on blue flies or flies with some blue tagged on.

I will have to tie some more flies with blue. I have made a few in that color. I do not think I have blue in that type of estaz though. I have white, black, silver, and pink. Thanks again for the heads up on that. I am not sure if I will do Caddo yet with my boat...but I will have to make some trial runs at another small lake first to see how it will act. I love looking at your flies, they are always good in my opinion.

thank you Kelly. Once you get the sea trials completed and all shaken down Caddo might be great! No high waves to worry about. Just take a map or GPS, stay in a comfortable zone and you ought to be fine. Or better, take someone who knows the lake along to navigate.

I make flies that look like that pretty often... Never knew they were called "schminnows". I just called them krystal buggers.

John 5:24 Very truly I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

1Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.
