Workers for Holloman Const. killed this rattler on a work site. It measured 7 ft. without the head.

That one that claims outside of Cleburne is a hoax. It has been around the net for a pretty good time. The first story said it was around Fritz and i believe that one. I work around Cleburne alot and am familiar with the golf course also, just does not look right, but i have seen some real monster rattlers in southeast Texas where you can't even go in the brush for the thorns on everything. They get realy fat and big down their.
Everyone have a great and safe holiday, get along and catch those fish

rattlesnakes dont weigh 90 pounds.period! like drpeede said in s tx where they dont den up, the get pretty big and might push 7' and 10-15 lbs. in the rest of tx where it get cold enough for them to den up, 7's are pretty much unheard of. 5 and 6's yea. most 6's weigh 6-9 lbs. now im no biologist, but ive scratched around under rocks looking for snake and have caught several. not afraid of snakes, but if i see one that weighs 90 lbs, you dont want to be in my way cause my arse is leaving!!!!

This is what I could find

Diamond Back Rattlesnake
The Texas record is 8 feet 3 inches and 16 3/4 pounds. Though most Texans (and everyone else) consider them a dangerous foe, they are actually very necessary to the Texas way of life. They help to keep the rodent population manageable wherever they are found. They are generally regarded as a necessary evil.

Here is a link, ... scroll down to reptiles .... Texas' Best link

That's crazy and a little close to home for me. I know when i was in the military and would travel through Amarillo i would stop at the Big Texan for a steak on the way. They had a very large diamondback on display that was alive and caught up there somewhere. I cant remember the exact size, but you could probably search for the Big Texan and get some info on it.
