I might be going this weekend, just wondering how crowded the jetties and beach will be. Also, since it's the 4th, will there be any fireworks shows or can you pop your own?

Seeing on how every weekend it is packed crazy with people fishing shoulder to shoulder. On this holiday weekend I would say it's going to be pretty packed. I am pretty sure you cannot pop fireworks on the beach because of some city ordinance or what not.

I sure would stay away from that ferry if you are going to cross after about 10 am Friday. It is going to be nuts down there this weekend. I'm not going.

Tourism is down in Port A. Even for the national surf day it was not that bad. Crowded but not that bad at all. The 4th may be slightly more people. And yes they will fire off fireworks at Robertson point.

It'll be packed to the hilt. The Boatmans association does a great fireworks display off of Roberts Point.

Well i live here and unlike Catfishd said, I think tourism is up, or atleast more steady. There are always people here this summer.

If i could, i would be leaving for the 4th and not come back til atleast 7th.

We have stocked up on food so that we dont have to leave the island for groceries because the ferry is ridiculous and the island road frustrating. But ill still be fighting the crowds on the water! fish cheers

Last weekend it was packed. A wait at every restaurant, traffic backed up, and lots of crazies. The wait for the ferry on Saturday afternoon was 40 minutes when we went through. I would avoid Port A like the plague this weekend.

Well I was down there for the 4th. The only time I had to sit in traffic was after the firework show as I left the bar next to Woody's and headed to Sharkey's The beaches were packed from what I could see but never had to wait for any restraunts. And there is a new restraunt / bar down there that has excellent food. Kody's and it serves food till 1am. Its on 361 on the left after Sharkey's coming into town and before Spagetti works. Fishing was insanely great. Lots of big trout and caught some keeper snook this trip as well as some shark and redfish and one pompano. Lost one fish this trip one big king. Took a live menhaden freelined but no steel leader. Fought for about 15 mins finally cut the 50 lb flouro

Let me know. Don't mind the company. The only day I did not tear them up was Fri. All the other days I limited out with my girl who is a rookie. Did well at night as well under lights. The lures eliminated the trash fish and the fish were bigger. When I used live shrimp caught lots of bar fish and smaller fish. Just remember the tides are your friend. It is not like fishing in a lake. It dont matter what time of day it is. If the tides are moving you can find fish and feeding fish at that. Just have to know where to look I guess.
