I went to benbrook for the first time last night...drove around for 30 minutes trying to find a spot, and ended up setting up just on the other side of the cove as the marina. It sucked. Had to wade out about 30 yards to cast because it was so shallow, and only caught one 12 inch catfish in 4 hours.

There is a guard shack now i believe you have to enter before 10pm, but as long as you are already there i believe that you can stay as late as you want.

They tried to charge me, but I didn't have any cash with me. That is why I set up opposite of that area.

Did you have any luck while you were out there, if so what did you catch?

Not at all. We were out there for about 4 hours and caught one channel cat about 12 inches.

The first thing you need to do if you want to catch cats regularly, is fish a different lake unfortunately... You will have 5 bad days for every 1 good day on Benbrook catfishing.. Dont know if the population is dwindling or what, but I have fished that lake hard on many ocassions and come up with little or none to show for it.. The bad thing about it is that the fish you do rarely catch are usually decent fish.. My buddy was drifting there acouple of weeks back and caught 3 fish over 10lbs in one night.. The next week we went out there against my better judgement and sure nuff nada !!! One small fish in about 7 hrs.. Dont want to discourage u but there are some better cat lakes that are not to much farther down the road that will produce better.. JMO

I think I will try a different spot than I have been fishing at weatherford, I heard by the spill way is some decent bank fishing.
