Went to Choke and Sunday and realized my S.A.R.A pass expired today so went to Brauning in the morning.

Wind was weird. Blowing hard when I left home at 5. Slack water at 6:15. Breeze from south at 8. Breeze from North at 9. Calm at 10. Breeze from south at noon.

Fish were weird. First cast in the weeds I caught a channel cat on a berkley power worm. Caught a few bass by sun-up.
Tossed the worm in about 2 feet of water and thought I has the lake record largemouth on...and then some. Freakin' 37 inch, 19 lb red, in 2 feet of water. My p.b. in fresh water.

Had the best largemouth day on that lake in past 8 years. Caught 25 fish. All 14 inch plus. Biggest a 6 lber. Decided to troll for reds for awhile. Snagged a 10 lb gar. Caught 4 keeper sized reds.

Trees were weird. Caught a 7 foot long cedar tree while trolling along the jetty. It had 2 crankbaits, bunch of leaders and hooks. A 10 year old spinning rod and reel combo was also attached.

5 minutes later snapped an American Rodsmith rod when I couldn't get it out of the rod holder in time. (Just caught an 8 lb red and didn't put the drag back to where it needed to be.)

Did I forget anything? Oh yeah, the air temp never hit 85 until I got in my truck to leave... at 1pm!!!

Odd day.

The largemouth day surprised me. It seemed that instead of hiding in the reeds they were on the outer edges of the them.

Also caught 7 on the same dropoff using a crankbait in about 10 minutes.
