Guys, I was at Seawolf early friday morning looking to catch some trout but they were somewhere else hmmm. Just about everyone else fishn from the rocks were pulling up oversized reds and 3-6ft blacktips. I sat on the picnic table sad but very entertained watching all the action. I couldnt join in cuz I only had trout rod n arties bang. So I decided to purchase a r n reel that would be ideal for slot or bull reds and maybe a 4ft shark. I have never fished for anything other than specs n flounder so can anyone provide info on a decent setup ? I currently use Allstar shrimptail specials n Classics with Citica Reel but need something with the clicker to throw freshdead bait from the bank or pier. Any help would truly be appreciated. flehan

Penn 9, some of the bigger Ambassadors and Calcuttas all have clicker with a 7'5" Allstar classic should hold up to most of those fish. The real question is should you take the level wind off?

Yes, Im a strong believer in Shimano but ive heard that they dont really compare when it comes to bigger models. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that? ive read that the daiwa sha/30 or penn 525 is probaly best for me and got great castin distance?? Is there a Shimano that in that size range that performs the same or better? I know this is alot of qstns but Im trying to get the right setup. I found a shimano TR2000 for a good price 60 bucks but not sure if any good?

I'm looking to rig up a couple of the ProAngler rods to Abu 7000s and see what happens on my upcoming trip to Port A.
