I wasn't to sure about what section to put this in, so sorry if it seems of the topic of "bank fishing".. I have this pond thats right about at an acre, 18ft. deep in the middle, and a small amount of vegetation...seems like it'd be fine, right?.. Fished the entire summer and only caught 2 bass and a TON of mudcat. We(me and my buddies) have tried everything and when we really do catch something its a mudcat. We have honestly and trully fished every square foot with almost every lure known to man with no luck at ALL!!Is there some possible way to get the mudcat out and leave the few other fish in???or anything else that could seriously fix this pond. PLEASE help.

p.s - the pond has a very small amount of bluegill//if that helps with any suggestions

Not really... Big bass usually love to eat bullheads, so there may just be nothing to prey on them. A big flathead would eat them like candy, but it would also annihilate anything else in there, as well.

They call it fishing, not catching for a reason..

Just one cast and you could have your name in the books!

Meadowlark could help; he has and maintains several ponds on his spread.
Also google (or bing) Pond Maintenance; you should be able to find several companies, even here in Texas, that consult on pond maintenance.
Good luck! A good problem to have (most of us don't have our own ponds!).

Draining it 'may' take care of the mudcats, but using rotenone will definitely MAKE SURE none of them survive. Starting over will probably be your best recommendation.

If it wasn't that deep, you could seine it and take out a considerable amount of bullheads and then return the desireable species.

Meadowlark knows all and should be able to give more advice/recommendations.

Try stocking the pond.
Mudcat seem to magically appear in any pond. I saw this while working around the ponds in oil fields. There not be any other species in the pond but there usually were mud cats and minnows. I think the birds spread them some way or other.
